It's funny bc I remember people younger than me, like ten years ago, asking me how to "break in to the industry" when I had two published books and no money. Since I joined social media the majority of the talk about "the industry" feels like a sad larp about an industry people wish existed,
Older creators bellyaching about feeling left outside of the comics industry have a myopic misunderstanding of what changes have taken place over the past few decades. The industry didn’t push you out, any sort of real coherent structural functional industry at all, sadly ceased to exist

this is also the working business model for everything including software you need to make things and also industrial hardware
can't imagine why video games are struggling when the prevailing business model is "we didn't pay any people to make this, but you can pay us (monthly) to play it, and pay even more to play the whole thing, but also you don't own it"
