Most Brits want climate action but think their neighbours don't. Most Brits support renewable energy but think their neighbours don't.

This is the work of relentless misinformation by our right-wing press and the oiligarchy.
Poll: Majority of Brits support renewables, but think their neighbours disagree with them
Major poll reveals 70 per cent of Brits would back a new solar farm in their local area, but only 27 per cent think that other people would support such a development

You might think that a man who drove into 100 people, using his car as a weapon, would NEVER be allowed to drive again.

It turns out he will be able to, around three years after leaving prison by taking an extended retest.

Why should he ever be able to get behind the wheel again?

I want every single solitary Republican in every elected office in every corner of this country to be asked about Donald Trump’s post about Rob Reiner.
They like to cloak themselves in religion…
Then read it to them.
Don’t let them say they “didn’t see it.”

Let them “defend” it.

The Scottish govt has dropped plans to lower the national speed limit on single carriageway roads to 50mph because it was unpopular.
It's a govt's job to do what's right, not what's popular. Reducing the limit would have reduced danger and KSIs in those roads.

Since 2019, the NHS has spent more money on maternity negligence claims than the entire NHS maternity budget for same period.

Investment now in maternity services will reap rewards very quickly.

The Government does not need to wait for the Amos review to start making a change.

Amazing wording on this glacier memorial
TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

BUT: The majority of the spending – £17.8 billion - announced today is to maintain Britain’s gas networks rather than build new transmission lines.

Part of a grim 🧵and a Politico article on the US-UK "deal".

Basically, the orange wants a "special relationship" to ride roughshod over UK pharma standards and adopt the new, slipshod, unscientific, FDA standards pushed by his incompetent administration.

That's just for starters
Politico literally spells it out: this locks the UK into “a U.S.-centric life sciences model.”

3️⃣ The US wants the UK 🇬🇧 to open procurement and the NHS supply chain to American 🇺🇸 companies.

This is extremely dangerous. It means:
🔹 no fixed boundaries
🔹 no scrutiny
🔹 no guarantee of EU compatibility
🔹 unlimited scope creep into NHS, food, chemicals, digital, data, services

The U.S. has negotiating leverage.
The UK is desperate and this ends one way.
