In light of today's SCOTUS ruling upholding Tennessee's ban on youth gender-affirming care, it would be amazing to see donations flood into OUTMemphis, the mid-south's longest-running LGBTQ+ org.

OUTMemphis offers material and social support for trans kids and adults and has since 1989.

Some days teaching is hard and the academy sucks and then a student says they liked learning with me and everything feels worth it in that moment

Nothing gets me in my feelings like the reflections my students turn in with their final revision portfolios. You met learning goals? And see the importance of revising? You expressed your unique voice? You feel more comfortable and empowered as a writer? I'm crying I love this job 😭

Reading an article with my technical writing classes about the environmental impact and water usage of AI while also reading headlines about the Cali wildfires is.... A sobering combo to say the least.

It's wild how my body shuts down while I'm getting work done. I'm in the home stretch on some edits and I went into full blown ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK today, had a hypotensive crisis from in and spent all afternoon and evening in the ER.

What is it about end of semester grading in particular that leaves me with just the absolute worst burnout. It is the same amount of papers all semester but for some reason final grades are so much more work

I keep a little bluetooth radio in my office and I play my Spotify in the background during office hours. And today as she was leaving a student said she liked my playlist. I think I will be riding this "I'm a COOL teacher" high for the rest of my career.
