Welcome to my personal journal. It’s mostly about Swampscott. I’m sorry if you came here for something else.

Twitter had to turn off its location feature within hours because thousands of prominent and "verified" MAGA accounts turned out to be foreign and I think it's hilarious that Elon was the one who exposed them all

The House of Representatives apparently have nothing more pressing to do than passing a bill "denouncing the horrors of socialism".

The entire MA delegation supported this rightwing fear mongering except for @repmcgovern.bsky.social,
@neal.house.gov, &
@pressley.house.gov.

A little update and confirmation on why you don’t just repeat things law enforcement agencies say without confirming them.

bsky.app/profile/reic...
Not linking to this @reuters.com article by @jimvondruska.bsky.social bc of this, but it still amazes me that journalists don’t treat statements from law enforcement as unverified reporting as they would from another news outlet.

The term is copaganda and most outlets treat it as fact.

I have a HS friend who became a Lutheran Pastor and became a bit too radicalized for my taste, but it’s always interesting to see his worldview bc it is centered in white Christians being heavily persecuted in the US.

Swampscott town meeting warrant just dropped…and this will be a pretty short and boring meeting.

The PARC grant is for resurfacing Abbott Park.

Article 10 will be interesting since they are officially closing soon, but hey we might have a plan shortly.

Looks like there is actual movement on the Hawthorne Redevelopment.

I never had strong opinions on this except for making sure is some sort of permanent acknowledgement of Indigenous people here, but this seems like a good compromise of all the wants.

YIMBYs of all political stripes give left-NIMBYs a lot of crap regularly, but conservative YIMBYs seem to be afraid to tackle these sorts of NIMBY takes from their own party. Why?
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Once again, the people that wanted people of color to be terrorized are ticketed to bits by a Trump admin whereas everyone else thinks he’s a failure.
People were warned then and they're being warned now and they're still not listening.

This is a good way to put it. I'm not going to write anyone off as an irredeemable human being but as a political matter, the American right is animated by bigotry and misinformation. It just is.
I'd say that you can find good in many people who voted for Trump, but you won't find it in their reasons for voting for Trump or in their ideas about politics.

I know Trump voters who can be kind and generous and loving. If you ask why they voted for Trump they'll give you misinfo and bigotry.
