Neighborhood-scale apartment buildings like these in Fairview have been all but illegal to build in #VancouverBC for nearly a century.

Thanks for this story. I took my kid to school on a cargo bike in the early elementary years and it was a game changer. Once I had the bike, I used it for everything -
Grocery shopping, trips to the park, commuting, etc. it genuinely replaced a car.

I’m willing to accommodate the trucks making wide turns out of NUCOR. They watch out for me. I watch out for them. But the delivery trucks to the market are just being lazy. The only reason I don’t confront them is that they are there in the AM when westbound bike traffic is light.

That eastern section at Spokane will eventually continue southbound all the way to Georgetown.

The videos on bike routes in the area are great. I’d love to see some of our regional trails like Centennial, Foothills, Interurban (north and south), etc. - thanks again for the great vids so far.

I’ve gotten pretty used to navigating the Avalon bike lane but I don’t think new riders would feel comfortable. And it’s best used by embracing the trust-no-driver mentality.

Okay - yea - this would be totally awesome.

I went to that. I’ll introduce myself next time. So many thoughts on California bike lane. It’s the best route and could be done but the political will to get it done isn’t there. I guess my position is, “I want the Cally bike lane but for now I’ll take a completed N/S greenway.”

I’ve been using the bike to get and explore other neighborhoods. Been getting quite familiar with good routes around town.

Oh man, yea. I used to run a lot of big city marathons where pickup was at a convention center the day before. It’s one reason I switched to local trail races which often offer race day pickup at the starting line. So much better!

I was just listening to an interview with Ezra Klein speaking to our inability to build housing. (Paraphrasing) he described our current process as policy via litigation which takes forever. This IS a big deal.

What a perfect day for a ride!

I ride that gap often but, as we see here, if you don’t know it’s there, you’ll never make the connection.

This should be the 128’s route. Not sure any human alive has ever taken it to Southcenter.

I gotta admit, I'm with Saka on this one. Pedestrian bridges usually indicate a failure to make other crossing options safe and a prioritization of the movement of cars over people. That being said, I don't live too close to the bridge and defer to those who live in the area.

I wonder who we contact to improve funding for better maintenance of our public restrooms?
