A great deal of effort will now be devoted to containing the power that was shown in #Minnesota yesterday. There will be acts of intimidation and the agents of wretched compromise will be at work. If these boundaries can be broken through, however, #Trump and his gang are in for a reckoning.

This is a great analysis. Carney pronounces the end of the old order (it's not that old), then suggests essentially the same order should replace it, but without a central hegemon. Alas, the economics of neoliberalism, which created the American monster, would surely make another.
The danger is not that neoliberalism is ending, but that it is being replaced by something worse: a world of militarized competition, eco-fascism, and technocratic management of permanent crisis. Acknowledging the collapse of the old order is not the same as building a democratic alternative to it.
What Mark Carney gets wrong about the end of the rules-based order
To re-establish power, defend sovereignty, and strengthen democratic values, Canada and its allies must do more than challenge the American state. We must also confront the influence of US corporate p...

For everyone who thinks Mark Carney is fundamentally changing Canada’s position in the world, remember that he is a neoliberal banker. He is only changing where Canadian corporations will seek wealth.

Why does the media not talk about the kleptocracy that the US has become?

WTF is this? If prviate, profit-seeking businesses want t pay for security, they can. I would rather the city spend OUR money on solving problems, not shuttling them out of the way.

What passes for leadership in this city is truly appalling. Someone who sits on FINCO, chairs a committee that is associated with infrastructure, and is not a noob at the council table only should maybe figure out how to contribute to city building, rather than shit bombing other people's work.

But you know what is the best unrestricted fund for a municipality? Taxes and fees, the existing social contract with our residents. A donation button is sort of a bougie look for a municipality, and people will see through it.

We are aware of an arrest gone horrifically wrong. After a person was tased by police, a TPS officer exited his vehicle without parking it, it hit the person & another officer. Cop entered the SUV & instead of stopping it hit the gas, making the situation worse. We will be watching this closely.

This is a period when the gloves are coming off so that the class relations in society and the predatory world order we live under are much more clear cut to many more people. The #corporatemedia's loss of credibility reflects this.
