I feel for the families, no individual deserves to suffer from climate change... But there are people that literally voted for the guy who said climate change was a Chinese hoax. Conservatives refuse to believe something matters until it affects them directly.

It's worse. The people are "human resources" to be consumed. The language we use to discuss these issues needs to leave the capitalist framing.
In a democracy, based on the consent of the governed, the president, his cabinet and the ruling party of elected officials are public servants working on behalf of the people. This despicable regime sees American citizens as pawns in their evil fascist game.
