First time seeing the Piano. fucking wow. Holly Hunter is of course amazing but Harvey Keitel was the big shocker for me, very surprised he wasn't nominated at the time. A near perfect movie.

More movies down. L'Argent was incredible. CURE was great. Meek's Cutoff is solid but not strong by Reichardt's standards. Cronos was decent fun and a novel vampire idea. Couldn't stand Lost in America, quit it. Tried to fight through Carlito's Way but it was just godawful, quit that one too.

Laughed so hard at John Mulaney's NYE show last night that I started to feel like I was gasping for air. Good live comedy can realy unlocks a crazy place.

Saw Mark Robinson (Unrest, etc.) at a small bar here in Portland, maybe 60 people there, and one of them was Calvin Johnson. So of course between acts, the sound/bar guy blasted Beat Happening songs. Just a weird thing to do to someone.

Watching Trump tear down the White House and try to pay himself $250 million in taxpayer money; I still fundamentally cannot believe that Barrett and Roberts haven't figured out that this is the end of America and that they could actually save it if they chose to.
