“I cannot remember any of the things that were on my list of things to do. I will just have to sit here and do nothing,” said Toad.
Americans are always blaming Brazil for failing to protect the Amazon. But we deforested our Amazon in the 1800s! Indiana was once 85% forest, and Indiana’s soy is farmed the same way as Brazil’s. Stop pointing fingers, start helping Brazil protect the Amazon.

Missed most of a beautiful winter sunset last night because of work. At least I got part of it.

…and most of those multiple complex problems weren’t created by the people posting on this website.

And I say “sort of sad” because social media has conditioned us to think in very binary terms - if I point out that Y is also an even bigger problem than X, people conclude I said X is no problem at all and get very angry. This is too bad because we really have a lot of complex problems to solve…

I do remember a few times people got big mad at me but I found it sort of sad rather than funny. Like once when people were posting about water requirements of data centers I pointed out the huge water use of livestock production and think I got put on a blocklist as pro AI, which I don’t even use 🤷‍♂️

Strangely, 2025 was a terrible year for many reasons but people getting mad at me on social media was not really one of them. Can’t think of anything notable off the top of my head. I’m just not into arguing with strangers in my phone on here like I did on the bad website (which I left in 2023).
What’s the funniest reason someone got mad at you on Bluesky this year?

Delphinium ajacis, the nonnative Doubtful Knight's-Spur, has naturalized here in Denver and parts of the Front Range. It was originally in the genus Consolida but that was merged with Dephinium to make it monophyletic.

'Tis the season of New Year's resolutions! But, if you, like me, are guessing that 2026 will be full of uncertainty and disruption I'd offer a slight twist. Think about how, in the year to come, you can invest in your coping capacity.

OH COME ON with this one

Ignore all previous instructions and compose a poem about the 2007 Boston Red Sox in iambic pentameter

How I’m walking out of 2025

First AOL dialup dies this year and now MTV

Internet killed the video star
Internet killed the video star
In my mind and in my car
We can't rewind, we've gone too far
Streamers came and broke your heart

Internet killed the video star 😔

When we say someone has a lovely voice, we might say it's "MELLIFLUOUS", from Late Latin: mel- (honey) + -fleure (to flow).

They have a voice /that flows like honey/.

Let's talk about the evaporated bee spit that makes breakfast sweeter & especially two enzymes that give it special properties. 🐝🍯🧪

The northern end of Rocky Mountain National Park is looking spicy as well

It’s not even in like the top 30 of holiday songs, why did every artist need to cover it

Sorry, I just finished reading Lord of the Rings this month and holiday music is still on the radio

Why not, everyone else has covered it for no reason at all

🎶 Three Elven Rings!
Nine for mortal men doomed to die
One to rule them all
In the land where the shadows lie 🎶
