Decided to check out how water is rendered in Counter-Strike 2.

Given how interactive water in CS2 is, I expected to see some cellular fluid simulation, but turns out they just use a low-resolution off-screen buffer with flat 2D decals used for various aspects of water. Reminds me of HL2 water :)

One thing I'd love to see more indie devs try is producing a two-page magazine style spread like @anwnm.bsky.social did for the upcoming Utter Inverse.

Untethered from the needs of traditional marketing, you can just create something that channels what you feel is the purest vibe of your game.

The game focused on light-hearted interaction and forced change

However, it was ultimately about poking things 👆
