Sadly, so far No Kings has organized mass protests and marches without a call to further direct action. Disorganized dissent raises hope and feels good but disperses collective energies without substantive political effect. We need a movement with action to confront and counter authoritarianism!

I know the day will be big. The 3.5% “rule” refers to sustained mass movements: repeated actions, general strikes, city-wide disruption, and broad coordination with unions, students, and civic groups. One-day protests like No Kings are vital practice, but they’re a rehearsal, not the whole story.

Pooling resources, legal defense funds, emergency networks, and mutual protection.
Since authoritarianism is national, democracy must be interstate.

Yes, there are collaborative efforts: climate compacts, healthcare agreements, and the DGA- but those are piecemeal.
What’s missing is an explicit alliance: a defensive and economic partnership prepared to protect democracy and citizens if the federal government turns rogue.

There isn’t a strong, unified Blue State coalition yet and that’s exactly the problem.
Pritzker himself said he’s largely standing alone, while others stay cautious.
We need governors acting in concert, not in silos.
