Ok, I gotta say. So. Damned. Tired. Of scrolling through my feed all about beekeeping and the vast majority of it is this Jason Statham movie. Jeez, grrrr and stuff. I'm here for beekeeping for fudge sake. Not some idiot action movie. There. Rant over.

Just occasionally I get a good idea. On one property I look after I've hit upon a solution for folk complaining I don't keep my phone on me on 4.5 ha / 11 ac of grounds. Can I call it a social media app with notifications? 🤪

This is the Apiary of Inzerki, in southern Morocco, the oldest traditional apiary in the world. It was established in the 16th century and is situated at an altitude of 1000ft where the bees have easy access to mountain flowers and herbs. The beehives within are woven from reeds.

"These were magic spells once used by beekeepers across Europe to control and direct their precious honeybees and prevent them from flying off when they gathered into a swarm."

In my opinion, Mr. Barret should receive a knighthood, praise, admiration, and a lifetime of love and respect from the population of this planet. #beekeeping

🌱 I was given one of these beautiful little solar lanterns. And I think I'm in love. Definitely going on my Christmas list. Want to get more to hang under a big magnolia tree. Check out sonnenglas.

Candle making is such a pleasure, but somehow I always manage to forget how much of a real pain in the ass it is cleaning up afterwards. #beekeeping

Glorious podcast, if you're into that sort of thing.

Considering bees as part of the family
Episode 71: Telling the Bees - This is Love
For a long time, beekeepers have told bees their news. They’ve told their bees about weddings, and when people they know have died. It’s said that if they don’t, the bees will leave their hives,...

I WAS using a bucket for the tools and bits I need to work on the bee hives. Friend made a box out of wood scraps for what I need, and I spent a glorious 2 afternoons in the shade painting it. It's possible that from this moment henceforth I'll be addicted to stencils.

🌱 I definitely need to learn some tips for flower arranging. As it is, I just put long ones at the back and short ones up front, but so so satisfying to prepare a small gift like this from the garden

Just when I thought I'd finished a full day chainsaw session, and old cedar sheds this 20m from where I was standing. Now gotta get up there to clean it up too. Just hope it's not too bad. Grrrrrr , I guess the resident tree spirits didn't appreciate the work

🌱 You know, you're some of the folk in my day who I know will get a kick out of this as much as I do. Was given a small chunk of sprouting red ginger from Sumatra in April. Look at this monster now. Can't wait to get a chunk into a Lemon tea.

With a 40'C heatwave incoming, it's time to pay extra attention to the girls being comfortable. Extra shade, extra water source, shims under the top cover to give extra circulation, polyfoam panels protection for the metal roof. Mesh bottom boards were already on ... Hey beeks, anything I've missed?
