Belgian-born, immigrant in Ireland (Kerry). Pansexuel cisgender father, also gay, and slightly queer. Definitely leftist. Cocktail enthusiast, digital all-rounder (business analyst is my current job, at a public institution - views are only mine).
I have supported Ghost for a long time, from their first crowdfunding. If this functionnality works well, Ghost will become an even-more interesting option for those trying to escape substack. I might even try to get the skills to make Ghost running somewhere for myself...

It took 7 yrs to find a publisher for my 1st novel because young women writers in the early 2000s weren't currency. Finally a balancing out & the menz are unhappy. Good points here:

Men aren’t vanishing from fiction. The truth is much more complicated
As debates over the ‘disappearing’ young male novelist rumble on, some authors and critics push back against claims that fiction has closed its doors to men. Hannah Ewens learns that the real problem ...

To be honest, I am not sure videogame exist because there are white teens to buy them. I think they exist because there are women/queer/neurodivergent/... artists that want to create that kind of experiences

Great piece, but I really believe that we have to stop saying that right-wing parties adopt xenophobic legislation to fight far-right. We know from experience that it doesn't and has never worked.. They know it too. I believe they see a strong far-right as an opportunity for them to stay in power.

One pair of numbers nicely illustrates where the Irish housing crisis actually originates.
* There were 1000 housing units awaiting planning permission due to judicial review in 2024.
* In 2024 there were more than 80,000 housing units with planning permission on which construction had not started.

Why is RTE uncritically reporting this bullshit ? What evidence has Denis O'Brien, tax exile in Portugal, produced ? What commercial property does Denis O'Brien own that might influence what he says on working from home ? Since when did he care about the civil service ?

I'm more and more convinced that right-wing party don't promote racist policies because they think they will get votes out of it, they know the votes will get to the far-right. But they also know that a bigger far-right gives them a better chance to stay in power, through alliance or anchoring.
