the distinct reason this space has actually improved my nervous system and ability to engage online in a healthy way is the 1) lack of clearly politically motivated bots/accounts 2) the hyper-customized feed and 3) you guys being the right people to be in community with

Ivy really might be Taylor’s greatest work yet. It says SO much in only 4:20 (lol). It hits on so many of her recurring themes: infidelity, war, snow, spirituality, grief/death, being cursed/mad, secret love, fire, wine, dreamland/secret gardens, light from the dark. Five years later I’m still 🤯

which is why I refuse to argue about if NR is 'real', bc regardless of what these rich and famous people are doing (though I think they are doing things too) WE are here, learning and educating, engaging with stories and art, sharpening our critical thinking skills

something I’ve been doing to distance myself from Taylor specifically and view this as a much larger cultural effort is to see the micro way they are spreading their ~fairy dust~ into their projects, who they hire, the stories they are telling etc. all of it is meant to shape culture and perspective

I think to continue following this project in a healthy, sustainable way we have to somewhat separate ourselves from the “celebrity” and focus on the “artist.” That is their expertise, their livelihoods, their fixations….and that seems to be how they find the right ways to speak up for, and to, us.
