ACTION REMINDER: Today is the last day of early voting for the run off elections in #Houston.
PLEASE get out at vote for Alejandra Salinas for At-Large 4 on City Council.
She can maintain the momentum we’ve built toward safer mobility options in Houston & take Whitmire to the mat on his bullshit.

#Houston Drivers: “I would never ride public transit it’s too slow and dangerous.”
Also drivers: “Cars give me the freedom to go anywhere.”

Houston’s mayor decided to take away signal priority for the Red Line rail through downtown, forcing it to stop at traffic lights to wait for cars.
This is literally the opposite of the point of mass transit.

The existence of Trunk-or-Treat is a reflection of the poorly designed car-centric suburban sprawl of modern neighborhoods.

just renewed my NFIP policy. It started out at $475 after Hurricane Harvey; now it's $1079.
HCAD property taxes are 10% more every year - and 10% of a bigger number every year is a bigger $$.
outrageous home insurance premiums keep topping themselves.

Rounds of rain (some heavy) will come to Houston this weekend, likely bringing us much needed relief from an emerging drought. We are also increasingly confident in a fine, fall front next week.

We will probably see a couple of rounds of showers this weekend, with heavy rain possible

Irony: sitting in 8 solid lanes of traffic on I-10 trying to get downtown to attend the flagship fundraising event of Houston’s biggest mobility advocacy group (BikeHouston) because it’s too far to bike in a suit & commuter trains simply don’t exist.

BY THE WAY

If you've updated to Windows 11 recently, you're probably on version 25H2.

There's a new setting in Settings: Privacy & Security.

Scroll aaaaaaaalll the way to the bottom and you'll see "Text and Image Generation."

TURN IT OFF.

I busted out the little red dot for Squeaks last week and now every time I walk towards the cabinet by the stairs where I keep the laser pointer she runs to this step and starts squeaking for play time.

in stark contrast to the high speed close pass from a pickup towing a huge trailer last week;
here’s an A+ pass from a driver who slowed down enough to let there be room in the left lane so he could give ample space when passing me.
all it took was an extra 3 seconds.
