Yeah, make it harder for victims and consider the rights of perpetrators. Ffs, in a system where rape convictions barely happen, why would anyone who’s already been brutalised and abused choose to put themselves through a legal process that will just brutalise and abuse them further? 🤦🏽♀️
Recently I talked to a woman who had been raped about cross examination. She went into a catatonic state for 15 mins, then asked me to hold her hand, and then began to cry. We discussed whether she should refuse to give evidence - even though it would mean he got off.
