Seems like a bad time to post this but is there ever a good time?

Just putting it out there that my current contract ends in the middle of November and I'll once again be looking for work as a character rigger/technical artist in games. I have a wealth of experience. 13+ years. Remote only please❤️

Captain Pikachu (Japanese: キャプテンピカチュウ Captain Pikachu), also referred to simply as Cap (Japanese: キャップ Cap), is Friede's partner Pokémon and his second known Pokémon. He sits in the chair on the bridge of the Brave Olivine, the Rising Volt Tacklers' ship, and is responsible for navigating it when Friede is not present. He is also co-leader of the Pokémon who belong to Friede's teammates and the group that live on the Brave Olivine. Captain Pikachu is almost always seen outside his Poké Ball. He is a founding member of the Rising Volt Tacklers, which is named after his signature move.

I develop adult video games on Steam. I can't find a bank that will actually let me withdraw my money from Steam. Can I get some advice?
Game has sold quite well on Steam. I've got almost £90,000 ready to withdraw after Steam's cut + VAT taken off.

However, it's been 2 months now and I can't find ANY bank in the UK who will let me withdraw my money from Steam.

I've been banned/refused/unable to get a business account with:

Wise
Revolut
Monzo
Monese
Chase
Starling
Nationwide
Halifax
Barclays
Lloyds
RBS

It always comes down to, "Where did you get this money from?"

"It's coming from games I sell on Steam."

"Can we see the store page?"

"Sure."

"I'm sorry, we can't do business with you at this time."

It keeps coming down to a commercial decision purely because I make adult content.

What the hell am I supposed to do? I've pretty much exhausted the whole banking system. I just want to be able to be paid for products I've sold.

I had a guy message me today about a weight rack I was selling, trying to haggle me down from $20 to $10. I told him someone had already offered $20 (true). 4 minutes later he asked 'Why haven't you marked it sold?' And I said,'because I haven't sold it yet'. 🫠

It's #portfolioday! I'm presently a senior narrative designer at Blizzard, but before that I was at Bungie and Arkane. I wrote for the Writer's Guild award-nominated Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and a bunch of critically acclaimed seasons and expansions in Destiny 2.

Hey you're not alone. 🫂 I'm going to be thrown back into the job market shortly. Last time it took me 6 months to land a 6 month contract. 12+ years at the time, GOTY under my belt, talks at GDC... The works. It's just extremely extremely competitive right now especially for American jobs. 🫠

Having worked briefly with another studio who did the same and refused to relent and said it made no difference... Yeah it's a theme. It just screams 'I am contributing to the system that is destroying me'. 😩

Pro-tip but if you want a successful, stress free launch of the announcement of your new company, of which you have likely poured a lot of time and money into: don't use AI. Business 101 is the damage is does to your rep when it matters most costs way more than to hire a human to make art. 🤷
