No Other Land depicts the horrifying violence Palestinians in the West Bank endure under apartheid.

Yesterday, its co-director Hamdan Ballal was beaten in his home by settlers before being detained by Israeli forces.

People applauded Hamdan. Now they are silent. Free Hamdan.

We refuse to accept the normalisation of Palestinian deaths. End arms sales to Israel, now.

Blog: Planetary boundaries & palaeoecology

Charting pathways that could stabilise earth system processes requires knowledge of how Earth systems have varied. This can inform decisions about where change could be resisted, accepted, or where adaptation is inevitable.

“They were trying to evacuate from the north to the south, when they were stopped at a checkpoint with a lot of others. Mosab was ordered to put his son down and then the army grabbed him, along with a lot of other men, 200, his wife said. His wife has not heard from him since.”

In a THOUSANDS
In a MILLIONS
We are all PALESTINIAN
#CeasefireNOW
Off to London to join the national march for #EndGenocide in #Gaza and honour the #ArmisticeDay.
Ceasefire NOW!
.
.
Anyone else from Oxford?
Thing I will very miss when I leave Oxford, the Bodleian library.
Attending Bodley Medal presentation tonight of my favorite author, Philip Pullman.
What better time to call for a #CeasefireInGazaNOW than on #ArmisticeDay, a day of remembrance, a truce, and the cessation of hostilities between opposition parties. A day to put humanity above all else. See you in London, on 11th November.

*Decolonizing Palestine in the time of academic metaphors *

We are in an era of academic metaphors where critical recognition is divorced from recognized reality. Many academics write on decolonization but hardly engage with actual forms of undoing injustice.

We run a seminar class on 'contemporary issues in conservation ' for our lab group of new Dphil students. And this paper is exactly our reading for today's class on decolonizing conservation.
We have to push to change Latin names too because too many of them all over the world include European/western last names, as Chris Trisos, Jess Auerbach and I mapped out in our decoloniality paper a couple of years ago, rdcu.be/dp3qz. So this feels like a good step towards decolonizing ornithology
Free Palestine. End the occupation.
