Oh! Thanks Nadine. I actually decided to "be productive" today instead of moping and have been out running errands. Where I've learned it's WAY too cold and blustery to take pictures today. Another time for sure though.

Highly recommend reading this blog. It's an incredibly good dissection of why the original L&O kicks the ass of every other iteration of the show. It's also an very well laid out diagnosis of why most of the "second screen" writing in TV today is so boring. Content can never be art.

The reboot of “Law & Order” is a Temu version of the show

The original (the first 20 seasons!) stands the test of time, whereas the reboot plays like a cheap knockoff relying on empty tension to fill in the gaps. A tremendous bummer!

For my money, This Heritage Minute which uses an actor mixed with archival footage (and the sound of him running which immediately reduces me to tears) is way more powerful.

The family having given permission does carry some weight with me, and it not being a for profit usage does as well, but the result is creepy as hell. The ability to use de-aged dead people can makes us creatively lazy and there were ways to get just as much impact out of that ad without the cgi.

The anti-Al community really does so easily embrace bigotry.
We see it with their ableist attacks on neurodivergent and disabled people using Al assistive tools.
Same with humanizing slurs against bots - which are really circuitous, socially-safe way of othering Al users.
