It's one thing to fight rubber aliens, it's another to fight aliens that aren't even there and will be added in post. That they sold this at all is indeed a triumph of both the effects people and Bakula's weirdly broad range of acting abilities.

We recently did a demo on RCA CED SelectaVision, and it worked... bizarrely good? Like, these disks are physically deteriorating year on year, but somehow this ancient press of the Rankin Bass "Hobbit" looked and sounded great... not at all the usual CED experience! 😅

A CED player, a machine that plays electrified video disks like a record player, operates with the lid off to demonstrate the technology. On the TV beside it, the Rankin Bass animated "The Hobbit" (1977) movie plays surprisingly well to demo what the playback looks like on this obscure old tech.

The Wisconsin Computer Club's show in Green Bay on 10.4.25 was a blast! Many thanks to all who came out to experience all these great old machines and talk shop with the club and I! Looking forward to our next visit to Titletown!

Guests at a WCC show explore the main room. Machines on the tables across the back wall (partly visible around guests) include: Amiga 1200, Amiga 500, NEC PC Engine Core Grafx, Amiga One 500, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Sega Dreamcast, Tandy 1100FD, Apple 2GS. Free stuff we were giving away is in boxes at the front of the room.

Guests enjoy a WCC show. Machines pictured (partly hidden by guests) include Otter X16, Commodore 64, Atari 800XL, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Super Famicom, Amiga 1200, Amiga 500, NEC PC Engine Core Grafx, Amiga One 500.

Mr. Moran's video-to-text demo, now in full motion and high resolution! The old camera (left) inputs video data to a small computer, which translates the image into text characters to recreate the displayed image in real time. This is a technical triumph a year in the making!

Mr. Mijal's "corner" of the show, featuring an IBM PS/2 model 60 computer, Apple Macintosh Classic, Tandy 1000, and apple 2GS.

I forgot to post up my VCFMW table setup yesterday. There were so many lovely folks to chat with and share my love of these systems with.

The lead-up work for conventions is so stressful, but seeing so many folks connect with systems from Japan makes it all worthwhile.

Six systems set up on tables - Casio Loopy, NEC PC-9821, Fujitsu FM-NEW7, Sharp X68000, Sharp MZ-1500, and Panasonic A1 MSX2 - playing different games or running different software.

As someone who only got a Dreamcast earlier this year, I wholeheartely agree with the cozy moniker for it. I guess it has more to do with the console's (and its games') Y2K aesthetics above all else.

SEGA Dreamcast is probably my "coziest" console.

I feel happier and more peaceful when I play Dreamcast games. Maybe I'm nostalgic for this era of SEGA, but I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

It wasn't here for long, but it left a huge mark for me.
