Per PL 87-286, the White House and grounds are a National Park System property, subject to the Organic Act. IANAL but doesn’t that mean anybody could sue for the APA violation of unpermitted activity?

So then essentially anyone is allowed to bulldoze and build in a national park and if DOI/NPS doesn't enforce the Organic Act then nobody else can stop them? Seems like Trump just threw the doors open for rampant private development in every national park in America.

PL 87-286 says that the WH "shall be administered pursuant to" the National Park Service Organic Act of 1916. The only exemptions are for "administration" or "use and occupancy" by the President...bulldozers seem like a stretch.

This is just straight up illegal demolition of a national park.

And not just historic preservation applies. Under PL 87-286 the White House is a NPS property and explicitly covered by the Organic Act.

The President is for all practical purposes using secret donations to bulldoze a national park.

Yep. Demolition and construction on a National Park System property, paid for by secret billionaires. This is a staggeringly dangerous precedent for ALL national parks. It opens the door for privatization of America’s most precious public lands.

The White House keeps making a big deal of the fact that the ballroom is privately funded but that’s one of the worst things about it.

These people and companies are buying influence. None of this is okay.

FACT: Presidents have been renovating and expanding the White House for more than 100 years.
In 1902, President Theodore Roosevelt built the West Wing.
In 1909, President William Howard Taft added the first Oval Office during a West Wing expansion.

The White House grounds are a National Park Service property, and this project does not appear in compliance with any of the laws governing national park management.

This will be a great precedent for selling off other national parks and public lands for privately funded development.

Not to mention, as chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, the shutdown is quite literally her fault for not finishing the twelve FY26 approps bills by Oct 1.

Shutdown Susan is incompetent as a committee chair and irrelevant as a senator. Maine deserves better.

You see by law a budget was supposed to be in place by Sept 30th, but Rs haven’t passed one. The reason? There isn’t a GOP budget. They haven’t even started working on one. This is what the House should be doing FFS!
