Odds are, if the game's crashing as early as the title screen, or even the startup logos, she's yet to ever actually get ingame / the install is a clean install. I'm not sure what'd be happening, I've only heard of the game like today or yesterday and haven't seen any bug reports

I would not call this a walkback at all, more like they are mansplaining to us that we are overreacting and what they want to do isnt that bad - still keep up the heat tho.
Discord is already starting to walk things back a little, so people should keep doing what they're doing (cancel Nitro, leave feedback/criticism, direct contact through support tickets/phone/email/etc)
