The thing that keeps getting me about all the pieces fretting about Bluesky being too insular is that the argument seems to be that those of us who are most likely to be abused by the right (BIPOC people, trans people, queer people, etc) must put up with being abused for the sake of public discourse

In 2019 while I was teaching at Harvard, I found my office door decorated with xenophobic, misogynist, racist slurs. Follow by the words, “go back to your country.” Nothing that happened during the elections is surprising to the communities I come from. The violence has been there. We’re not free.

i will never enforce or respect a bathroom ban because i simply do not care about legality over morality. you can put w/e you want in your evil little law book and i'm still going to tell you to fuck off, accompany ALL my women friends to the bathroom and if you try to stop us i'll kick your ass

Look to community. Look to friends and family who stood with us and who suffer the grief of this loss with us. In their company find comfort. And when you are ready to stand up and fight, I will be with you, too.

Currently working on my MA thesis using Sontag/Benjamin on politics of images. Focusing on how media is inherently capitalist in its exploitation of predominantly BIPOC women & children.

Also thinking about Katrina/climate events and the feds inadequate responses to those most vulnerable.
