Japan doesn't outright ban Chinese vehicles yet survives just fine with a strong domestic market such that Chinese vehicles can't win there. There are lessons to be learned and we need to be open to them. Retool reengage. #japan #canada

Happy Thanksgiving Canada 🍁 I am so thankful to live here in beautiful #NovaScotia
I love this country 🍂🥮

What's open, what's closed in the #Halifax area for #Thanksgiving 2025

Many businesses will be closed Monday, transit will run on holiday schedule

Our collective national boycott predates the Canadian FTA across provinces, so we can definitely makes this 100%. I'll try to find and support more neighbouring products and I hope you will to. Cheers

I think Algoma is expected to reduce their emissions by 70% so although lower the scale that Algoma can produce would still make it cost competitive. It's a new frontier to push in that direction

Yes 2026 EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) comes into full effect, requiring importers of carbon-intensive products, including steel, to pay a carbon tax based on the emissions embedded in their imports. Canadian companies moving to electric arc welding ahead of all the rest

Well, Japan has funny little cube cars/trucks like Daihatsu, but an Edmonton winterized one would be up to the imagination. Could save a lot of materials without USA sized vehicles. Worth a shot. We're in a tough spot about to lose thousands of jobs either way good time to retool, no rush to open up

real second level thinking though would be to transition to make e-bikes and e-cargo bikes, as those are the real game changers in terms of environment, boosting mobility, and eliminating traffic all at once. Nationalize bikelanes, raffle off 400K e-bikes a year at $1 B / yr and we solve much

Cdn enterprise would crumble on cheap imports. Cdn cars? Otherwise sector has to immediately transition to drones planes ships and someone has to have the vision to do that today. Only drones capable of being thousands a day (truck payload sized) for domestic and border protection plus int'l sales

Some nice new mapping/charting of multiplex uptake from the Star. I liked the second one that looked at the ratio of new builds to renos. About 3/4s of multiplexes approved since the Multiplex Study By-law was passed have been renos.

The Cdn embassy in Tokyo is epic in scope. Such grandness + materials + size in a compact city. Bungalowish bldns for staff. A real moment: Japan’s 80s boom but also a Cdn bigness vs cheapness. An internationalism too. Bring it back. It’s our only way around the USA. Pics from Oct 2023 walking by.

The political right has chosen blatant lying as a political strategy.
"..constant lying is not aimed at making the people believe a lie, but at ensuring that no one believes anything anymore.
A people that can no
longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong...With such a people, you can do whatever you want."

I prefer Canadian and International replacements. It is the USA that is not needed. Begone. Turns out we live in abundance.
