FYI for twitch streamers: You can disable the annoying bird promotion on your channel by navigating to Creator Dashboard->View Rewards->Rewards

worth mentioning: up until The Brutalist, vistavision had been retired as a primary format since 1961 (though it was still intermittently used for VFX shots thanks to the higher resolution), and even then was only used for about 7 years. now there's 4 fucking movies coming out next year utilizing it

the results are absolutely worth it compared to digital cameras, and theaters are marketing the shit out of IMAX/dolby/4DX/whatever bc the audience demand is there and it brings them in even more money. and that's not to mention the overlap between that and film projection making a niche comeback

it's not so much "streaming is taking away from the theater" now but rather "the ultra-streamlined film making and movie watching processes thanks to tech advances have become so simple it's left people wanting more out of them." some directors are going out of their way to wrestle with analog bc-

was trying to articulate my thoughts on vistavision coming back until i realized we're repeating history rn. studios in the 50s were on a mad dash to create as many premium gimmicks as possible to combat the rise of TV, now it's (sort of) happening again but in response to streaming/digital cinema
