Sadly, my contract with Blizzard ended in September. That means I'm looking for fulltime or contract work as a senior writer or narrative designer. If you need someone who can write sharp characters, poetic prose, and emotional stories, I'm available! www.hazelmonforton.com

It's #portfolioday! I'm presently a senior narrative designer at Blizzard, but before that I was at Bungie and Arkane. I wrote for the Writer's Guild award-nominated Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and a bunch of critically acclaimed seasons and expansions in Destiny 2.

remember how politicians and journos just lied and lied and lied about trans healthcare and created the space for doubt by talking constantly about the need for clarity as if the science weren’t settled already

The science on Tylenol and autism isn't clear, despite President Trump's claims. Here's what parents need to know to make their own decisions about acetaminophen.
When it comes to Tylenol, what are parents to do?

“The “refrigerator mother” myth was used as a justification for taking children away from their parents and subjecting the kids to ever-harsher treatments…now the Trump administration is poised to start a new cycle in which moms are once again blamed for their kids’ autism.”

My latest.
Opinion | Once again, people are blaming mothers for their kids’ autism
"While the Trump administration seems obsessed with autism, they never actually talk about the kinds of things that would improve our lives," David M. Perry writes.

It is amusing to think that 40 years ago we had a nationwide panic to stop kids from playing Satanic RPG's that would warp their mind, when what we should have been doing was hunting down and destroying high school debate clubs with the ferocity of a Butlerian jihad.

I used to believe they're terrified but now I understand that the thought of finding a "better" candidate is what they're really afraid of. Liberals/Democrats benefit from the status quo. They don't want things to change that much

The thing that gets me is that we have 3 years to find a Presidential candidate, and it's possible to prevent the worst candidates from getting the nomination by demanding better, but liberals are so terrified by Democrats' propaganda that they already pledge their unwavering support for Anyone.

Increasingly I think a major function of “masculinity” IS its crisis — a vehicle for the dominant & dominating group to justify focusing their social attentions primarily on themselves

Alan Dershowitz puts directly into words here the conservative legal theory that the bases on which the law actually forbids discrimination and the bases on which they wish it protected them specifically hold equal legal weight.

One of the many scary aspects of the latest push to use payment processors to effectively ban otherwise unbannable art is the repeated suggestion that policies that clearly refer to *real* depictions of offensive acts also apply to fictional depictions.

I wrote about the absolute moral necessity of Congress impeaching a president who represents a threat to democracy, the nation, and every person on the planet—and also about the practical necessity of doing so, because not doing so tells a incoherent story.
