If I had to guess, I’d say it’s behind closed doors messaging from the state that they won’t tolerate conflict or competition with the golden boy’s pet project

When a street is repaved existing ADA curb ramps MUST be upgraded to code. It's a Federal requirement.

So naturally DOT's the country-over, cook up strategies to avoid doing it. Los Angeles has been egregiously shirking its responsibility for a year. futureis.la/p/la-has-sto...

If you attend concerts frequently I recommend establishing an account on CashOrTrade. @cashortrade.org

It's a website where people buy, sell & trade tickets at face value.

The fees are around 10% in my experience.

I've bought & sold multiple times.

We are in the early innings of people coming to grips with the real cost of building our cities almost exclusively for automobility
LA quietly stopped repaving all streets last July to avoid fulfilling its ADA obligations. The federal govt says when you repave a street, you have to update all the curb ramps. LA has tons of out of date curb ramps, so the rule makes repaving much more expensive. The city's solution: stop repaving!

If anyone knows the answers 👇
For the East Bank ad hoc meeting at 3pm on Thursday, December 11th, 2025 in the Council Chambers

Does anyone know:

1) Is there public comment at this meeting?

2) Who are the groups & individuals invited?

This is a really important thing about speed cameras. They actually do change driver behavior and force people to slow down. They should be an important tool in creating safer streets *along with* design changes.
When cameras are installed, they issue many violations in the first month, followed by a steep decline in the second month. This suggests that the cameras effectively deter speeding by changing underlying driver behavior rather than relying on sustained revenue extraction.

@newyorker.com Article about how stadiums 🏟️ have become luxury destinations.

It's long & there is nothing earth shattering within.

But one interesting fact is that the US has 24 Million Millionaires.

Couple nights ago around 6pm I heard screeching tires over the sound of my TV.

I went outside & a car was off the road into someone's yard & a woman was screaming.

She ended up being alright & the driver who hit her stopped & walked over to her car.

I cleaned up the remnants today.

ADU / DADU legalization in Nashville.

1. Does this mean that I can now have 3 total housing units on my R6 lot? Two full-sized units originally allowed under R6 +1 ?

2. Can my ADU be attached? Ie; if I own a 3,000 4/4 house, can I install a door and make an ADU out of a 1Br/1BA area in the house?

NDOT already hacked down all the white flex posts in this picture. The bases of the flex posts are still screwed into the pavement. The yellow center flex posts & cushions remain.
Traffic Calming:

I have been waiting years for NDOT to deploy a design like this.

No speed cushions*, just flex posts on all 3 lines.

It creates a visual (& physical) pinch point which slows down drivers.

It was working when I took these photos.

*Speed cushions are also deployed nearby.

Their goal for late spring 2026 is to work on the portion between Fifth Street and Eastland Avenue, where upgrades were planned pre-CHYM."
