I finally got my mitts on inscryption and broke the game by Stoatmaxxing.
Empower the stoat. Embiggen the stoat. Make the stoat take up my entire half of the board, dealing like 10 damage per turn in three directions.

I'd like to add onto this: you should inherently be suspicious of people who say they love military history but focus entirely on the battles and the dates and latch onto Roman culture or Nazi culture.
A big part of military history is the whens and the how's and the whys as well as the tactics.

It's 99% "They met on the battlefield and then the cavalry broke free and hit from the flank and the battle was won". Over and over and over again.
The lives of everyday people is FAR more interesting.
