I expect people who have used their industry status to hurt other people to go the fuck away

Yet it seems to be a constant cycle of "hasn't the person who hurt people suffered enough? what more do you want?"

I want them to show actual fucking remorse, not fulfil a checklist of duties they made up.
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

To wit: 4Kids dubs are literally what helped bring the medium to a broader American market, when the mainstream adult world wasn’t (and STILL ISN’T) willing to treat anime as anything other than toddler fodder.

It’s easy to poke fun now, but the industry blossomed in part BECAUSE of their ambition.
Seen discourse re: AI dubbing about how “dubs are this bad anyways, screw those cliques who throw in amogus references”

That’s intellectually dishonest. Even the cheesiest 4Kids dub can make me feel something real over AI.

I say this as someone who prefers subs, too.

The European Council has agreed on a version of Chat Control that it wishes to push forward in 2026.

This version contains "voluntary" mass scanning, mandatory universal age checks, and isolating minors from apps.

Chat Control still needs to be fought.

Reality Check: EU Council Chat Control Vote is Not a Retreat, But a Green Light for Indiscriminate Mass Surveillance and the End of Right to Communicate Anonymously
Contrary to headlines suggesting the EU has "backed away" from Chat Control, the negotiating mandate endorsed today by EU ambassadors in a close split vote paves the way for a permanent infrastructure...

No one’s going to know you’re talented if other people aren’t aware of you. And if you’re difficult to work with, people talk.

Any industry is like that. Acting is just a lot more public than most, so when problems arise it’s more likely that people notice.

If you're getting a machine to do your thinking for you, how do you justify your executive-level salary?

God it's so funny. What a surprise that, while people trying to deal with the details hate it, the people whose role is talking utter empty bullshit simply love the empty bullshit machine
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

Finding a community, which supports you, cares about you, allows full self-expression, and actively tries to prune bad actors... is good for you?

Who'd have thunk? :3

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.
