The Blood Bank, located in DeGowin Blood Center, processes and stores blood products for University of Iowa Health Care and associated locations. These products are used for various medical needs, such as transfusions, self-donations for future procedures, apheresis, and much more. #PathSky

Our brain bank in the Iowa Neuropathology Resource Library contributed rare brain samples to a CTE study from @bu-cte.bsky.social investigating the effects of repetitive head trauma-related injuries in the formation of CTE.

Dr. Karandikar's (@PathImmune) group was the first to show that CD8+ T cells targeted to CNS antigens can suppress disease activity and be used as a potential therapeutic approach.
