Nemophilist settler. Further: Hopepunk public librarian/runner/cyclist who knits. Likely to be emphatic about music, the environment, books, politics, libraries. Unbothered about most else. Habitually contented. She/her. Work does not endorse this mess.
And, if you live in Canada, the authors you read will get a little kickback, even if you borrow from a library instead of buying! Not enough people know that. publiclendingright.ca/about/overview

In an essay published in the Globe and Mail, the author of “The Inconvenient Indian” said a whistle-blowing organization shared his ancestry.

Neither my 11yo nor my partner of 5.5 years knows my birthday. This means I drop hints quarterly until they figure out that it can’t possibly be my birthday again.

Man was not expecting Canada *and* Mamdani.
Trump looks exhausted and disheveled
November 7, 2025 at 12:59 AM
I... am pretty sure David Frum just tried to say Mamdani said that all our problems are Israel's fault, on Metro Morning? Did I hear that wrong?

I am thinking I must have... I can't imagine David Common would have just let that stand. Though at this point, we know what plays like that are worth.

I really don’t understand why it’s so hard for certain people to understand that Mamdani is doing so well because he is advocating for more than “keep Trump from taking the few good and/or semi-decent things that remain” and is articulating a real vision for how to make New York better.

We are complicated. And that is okay.
I didn't even know I could combine this much genuine hope with this much delicious schadenfreude.

And people *all over the world* can rhyme off Mandani's key campaign planks. It's amazing.
For all that people are bemoaning that Mamdani is radical, the central issues in his campaign are actually relatively small.

“This bus will be fast and free” saves people a few dollars and twenty minutes every day. This isn’t huge; it’s concrete and imaginable.

Me: Okay, time to learn laundry. Like you promised.
11yo: I need a bribe. Candy.
Me: You do not. No one gives me candy when I do laundry.
11yo: There’s candy. You don’t even need to ask permission. That’s a you-problem. My terms are candy for laundry.

Touché, little fucker. Touché.

You cannot put the Jays, Halloween and the new Florence and the Machine album release on the same day. I will simply explode.

If Jays pull this off, there’s definitely going to be a movie about this season. The characters are just too good.

Nothing will ever add up, because this guy is just a geyser of shit spraying through an interdimensional portal that somehow is always creating more shit. He's tapped into the higgs boson of shit. Like it was some kind of lost force none of us were correctly accounting for.

Trump was going to blow up trade talks no matter what. He knew about the ad Monday. Deals kept happening all week. Carney came out with some details, and Trump sold him out with literally anything he had, because he doesn't want a deal. He wants vassal states.

Stop trying to have a deal. Move on.

Something I will never get over about librarianing in a fairly small town: when people get their overdue notices, they just scoot over and return their books. But, like, TO MY HOUSE. 🤣

RIP to D’Angelo. He brought the highly skilled playful raunch back to R&B after a few years of sappy sentimentality. No one did it like him before or since.

Trump's second term has been a nightmare for research and data management in so many ways. One small, unsung impact? His tariffs are stopping inter-library loans from moving internationally: www.404media.co/libraries-ca...
Libraries Can’t Get Their Loaned Books Back Because of Trump’s Tariffs
Libraries have shared their collections internationally for decades. Trump’s tariffs are throwing that system into chaos and can ‘hinder academic progress.’

He wears the hell out of a sweater. Knives Out-level sweater game on this man.
