TODAY is the first day of open enrollment in Idaho. That means people need to start choosing their health care plans RIGHT NOW.

One Idahoan who's paying $367/month will be paying a WHOPPING $2,232/month without the ACA tax credits.

We have to save the ACA tax credits.

"That's the point – the smudge, the rough line, the hesitation - that's what makes my work come alive." - Jim Lee talking about why DC will never use AI storytelling. "AI doesn't dream, feel or make art, it aggregates it."

Friend of the committee, Craig Brown, gave a presentation for the Clyde Sukeforth chapter. He answered the question of how closely colors were connected to the identities of 19th-century baseball. Watch the presentation online at www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQmX...

I wonder too if Shaw thinks Marte can even play because of his ethnicity.

Greetings from Benton Harbor, Michigan, where we’re playing a vintage baseball game on the site of the old House of David colony. A spooky place full of baseball ghosts.
Large Victorian house with a cupola at the top and green trim behind a gated iron fence and a green grass yard. Former home of the Israelite House of David leaders. Historic marker for Mary’s City of David in front of a 3-story brick building.

The marker reads:

Michigan Historic Site

MARY'S CITY OF DAVID
After the death Of Benjamin Purnell in 1927, the Israelite House of David religious community split over spiritual direction and accumulation of assets.

Purnell's wife, Mary, left and founded Mary's City of David on this adjacent site in 1930.
She retained control of four large farms and a ninety-room hotel next to Benton Harbor's expansive fruit market, which provided income for the colony. Between 1930 and 1950, members designed and constructed this complex of vernacular buildings. At a time when resorts were restricted by race and ethnicity, the colony welcomed Jewish visitors by building cabins and a synagogue to accommo-date them and opening vegetarian restaurants that attracted OrthodoxJewish vacationers from Chicago. A crumbling wooden railroad trestle over a wooded gorge at the site of the old Eden Springs amusement park. A lone white plastic chair sits at the bottom of the woods. Some recent scaffolding has been erected in the middle of the trestle. A stone cottage with a sign that says Greenhouse stands in front of a crumbling 3-story structure with broken siding and windows. On the trail in the foreground are new orange and black Halloween signs and a pumpkin hanging from a stick.

On this day in 1910, Sam Bankhead was born in Sulligent, AL. This 7-time all-star was a left-handed slugger with a cannon for an arm, and he had the ability to play every position on the field. Here’s a color study of him with the Leopardos de Santa Clara during the 37-38 Cuban Winger League season.

On this day in 1953, Jean Faut threw a perfect game against the Kalamazoo Lassies. The 4-0 victory cemented her claim as the only ballplayer (male or female) to have thrown two during a professional career (her first coming in ‘51). Here’s my painting of her with the Blue Sox in 1949.
