There have of course been civil wars, coups, brief border wars, and US interventions in some much smaller countries like Panama. But something on the unfathomably massive scale of the US launching a regime change war in Venezuela hasn't happened in the Americas since the 19th century.

I’d seen the nutty excerpts of Miller’s speech at Kirk’s memorial, but hadn’t seen the whole thing. It’s easily the most unhinged, unapologetically fascist rhetoric I’ve ever seen from someone in US government.

It’s an oversimplification to just call it racism. Obama’s presidency inspired all of this because it signaled real change, real progress and shift in power dynamics. Race is the construct used to reach the most ignorant and vapid imho. The real issue has always been class.
