I don't fault News Orgs for going with a story from a high ranking official, they're simply reporting what they said.
I do think we need an explanation of how we got from "shot dead" to "critical but stable," since it is actually rare to report casualties without confirmation.

it's pretty galling to invite a pathological liar on your show and allow him to slander a fellow female journalist completely unchecked—and then publish it. jacqueline sweet is a damn good reporter who published a lot of major stories about santos. this sucks.
