Great model for California to follow. Build economies of scale for electric trains and supporting infrastructure and watch the savings roll in.

Germany aims to reunify the procurement of PSO trains in order to make their acquisition and maintenance easier and cheaper. The model is based on that of the VDV Tram-Train consortium.
Germany's 27 states join forces to make joint train purchases
Since regionalisation, purchasing has become fragmented, losing the benefits of economies of scale.

Blue Hill Ave should have a train that runs into the heart of Boston That was promised to this part of the city when they removed it 60 years ago...a bus lane isn't good enough. Put the train back in. I have a substack article coming about this, but I wanted to post about it here in the mean time

The amount of space wasted on a golf course that is basically unusable inside of Boston is heartbreaking. Combine it with getting rid of the road that slices the park in half, make it only useable by buses, bikes, and pedestrians.

Make sure that anyone in the area who is low income has the opportunity to upgrade at no cost to one of these new units. Every unit should come with a new fridge, washer/dryer combo, AC/Heat. The cost should be kept low to allow them to afford it. Quality insulation to keep energy cost low.
trainsbikesbus.bsky.social
The revenue generated from housing, commercial, offices alone in a 30 story building will far outweigh a golf course...not to mention quality of life improvements for everyone in the area, the cost of housing will continue to fall as we build higher
trainsbikesbus.bsky.social
Surround it with 30 story multi-use apartments. Commercial 1-2, Offices 3-5, apartments 6-30. Mix in full size community centers & playgrounds. Add a beer garden similar to Munich's English Garden Park, a place that can be turned into a holiday wonderland

#boston needs to turn its golf course into a park almost doubling the size of park portion. The zoo, golf course are both considered part of franklin park. The golf course takes up almost 160 acres and isn't even useable by 98% of the citizens of Boston. Take it back and lets use it
trainsbikesbus.bsky.social
Think about this - Average size of a golf course is 200 acres. Can't be used late fall, winter, or early spring. TRUTH.

Ppl complain that bikes can't be used every season so why have bike lanes. FALSE. Bike lanes can be used EVERY season.

Why do we waste so much space on golf courses?

It's 'Cycle to School Week', a UK-wide event run every year by Bikeability to celebrate cycling to school and the huge benefits it brings to children's health and wellbeing.
Graphic says. "This Cycle to School Week, don't just encourage us; enable us! Every child needs safe space to walk/wheel and cycle". There are two drawings, one above the other. Top has a busy road full of grey cars and fumes, with standing silhouettes holding signs that say "you can cycle!" and "we heart bikes!". Bottom has "safe space for cycling" with a planter showing road open to cycles, pedestrians and wheelchair users, "people-friendly speed limits" with a 20mph sign and "inclusive cycles and accessible cycle parking" with a range of different trikes and bikes all parked on stands under a big shelter.

This right here. Especially ppl that park in crosswalks, fire hydrants, or school zones. What in your mind says you should have the right to park anywhere you want at any time? No you can't park on the sidewalk...no you can't just park in the middle of the road

Sometimes I think about how absolutely wild it is that drivers think they're being oppressed when they get punished for breaking the law
trainsbikesbus.bsky.social
Newbury Street and downtown crossing absolutely should be 💯 pedestrian and the north end main Street should be buy a street tram should be installed linking the city up more

If you can pedestrianize Broadway in NYC, Boston can make Newbury St permanently car free #CarLiteBoston

“The transformation is astonishing. [Paris] has quietly—& quickly—become one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. What started as a series of emergency “coronapistes” or pop-up bike lanes, built during the pandemic has evolved into a permanent bike network spanning hundreds of kilometres.”
New Study Shows How Paris Pedaled Its Way to a Cycling Revolution
Cycling through central Paris meant weaving between buses and scooters—a bold choice reserved for the fearless few.

PSA: People on bikes aren’t swerving to annoy drivers, they’re just trying not to die or destroy their mode of transportation.
This is generally what the bike portion looks like of our “shared” roads. Glorious.

#boston pay attention. People like Ed Flynn, Erin Murphy & Frank Baker are all for regressive car policies. Pro car, anti-pedestrian, public transit, and bikes. The opposite of what our city needs. We gotta vote in people who understand the moment, and these folks ain't it.

this is just wonderful to see =D also the addition of walking paths, new courts is great! Walking paths in particular r extremely helpful for new parents and those who r aging in place who need a spot to get out and exercise. A few park benches here and there for a morning coffee and bam! wonderful

Ebike ally! You don't have to ride one to understand the potential!

It's funny to me that I'm one of the biggest e-bike defenders on this site and I don't even own an e-bike (yet).

I just see their potential to get people out of cars and I want to fight for their expansion!
