Amateurs debate Goku vs. Superman.

Experts debate Popeye vs. Saitama.
Day 295. Hump day. Fair enough day at work but JESUS FUCKING CHRIST is my assistant manager an absolute dipshit.

Anyway, yeah. Another day done.

1) Read five chapters of Junji Ito stuff.

2) Watched some YouTube videos.
Then what did they vote for?
Federal worker: My district went for Trump both in 2016 and 2024, and a lot of my friends supported him. But they didn't vote for the parks to close, health care costs to skyrocket, veterans to lose care, and for tens of thousands of federal employees to be at risk of losing their jobs.
‘Even immigrants…’

I’d highly recommend the film Flight (2012) as an aversion to this. Washington’s character breaks down and admits to his problems, but he does not avoid the consequences of his actions and go on to an unfettered happy ending.

Absolutely stellar performance, as well. (But it’s Denzel, so of course.)
…allow the person who committed the wrong to get away with a slap on the wrist or everyone else saying ‘Well, he learned his lesson. No reason to hold it against him.’?

Wondering now how many works end with a main character who committed a wrong not just saying ‘I’m sorry’ and that’s it.
“Most paths to redemption don't run through the U.S. Senate, though.”

This idea that atonement/redemption never comes with a cost, can’t result in formerly open doors being shut… where does it come from? Why does it seem so pervasive?

Is it because it’s a trope, that so many works of fiction…
"Oh so there's no path to redemption?" Sure there is. Most paths to redemption don't run through the U.S. Senate, though. Go, live a good life. Farm oysters. Diminish and go into the East and be an always improving Graham Platner. Do not be a Senator. And remove that fucking tat.
Day 294. Better day at work, mostly. Only managed a little bit of writing after.

1) Watched an episode of I’m in Love with the Villainess.

2) Read five chapters of Junji Ito stuff.
Can't recall specifics, but I seem to remember hearing about people diving into politics hiring private investigators to look into themselves, trying to get ahead of whatever muck their opponents would dredge up.

Not sure doing that would have helped in this case, though.
I have no tattoos primarily because I've never had any symbol or image strike me as so essential to my person that I'd want it embroidered into my skin forever.

If you're to stupid to realize you got Nazi ink and remove it before running for office, you probably aren't going to help anyone.
1, 4 and 6 have the longest relevancy, I predict.
Looks like she’s going down a runway.
Day 293. Back to work after only a few hours of sleep. Not a terrible day, but it wore me down more than it maybe should have.

1) Watched some YouTube videos.

2) Read five chapters of Junji Ito Stuff.
Fucking WHAT!?

I was at a theme park yesterday, I haven’t checked out this week’s manga yet. What the fuck?
I really hope I burned my tongue a couple days ago, because the alternate explanation for my loss of taste is Covid and that shit is permanent, right?
Also, does it really matter if these protests and whatnot do or do not ‘hit’ with the people least inclined to oppose autocracy?

We’re not Schumer et al trying to win over Trump voters with this.
Game of Thrones, from this century, made the term ‘mad king’ or ‘the mad king’ a part of the zeitgeist, in its own way. People don’t miss the connection between royalty and tyranny or corruption.
Day 292. Family outing to end my vacation week. Was fun, but like everything else in my life there were irritants here and there.

Back to work tomorrow.

1) Read six chapters of Junji Ito stuff.
Same, but for me it’s my mind.
Hey I’d really love it if I could tackle just one major project on a weekend without my body revolting against me. :)
Lichtenstein should have done something with this panel. Possibly as a comment/Take That! on accusations that he trafficked in nothing but plagiarism. Similar to his Magneto 'image duplicator' piece.

...a somewhat erratic work schedule.

Can I manage to keep going with my personal projects when I go back to work?

1) Read five chapters of Junji Ito stuff.

2) Watched some YouTube videos.
Day 291. Will spend most of tomorrow on a family outing, so today was the 'last' day for me to use my vacation productively. It's only at the end that I've started to build up momentum with a long overdue obligation, but I won't manage anything tomorrow and then this coming week I have...
