To me, the only answer Platner can reasonably have is "Holy shit I had no idea of its significance. I'm sorry to anyone offended by the tattoo and I have an appt to get it removed." Period. Say that, maybe with a "I knew I ate a lot of crayons in the corps but this really is shocking." Done.

Regardless of Graham's apparently staggering levels of idiocy, the only correct answer from his lips now is "Holy shit I had no idea. I have an appt to get it removed and replaced with my Marine company logo."
Are you sayin if you got a random drunken tattoo without any clue what it was or what it may have meant, that you would have gone 20 YEARS without ever checking on that? Over times where Japanese or Chinese tattoos meaning popsicle went viral? Only a moron or a liar could say that.
Not a goody two shoes at all, but I definitely think if I got a drunken tattoo, at some point in the NEXT 20 FUCKING YEARS I would have looked up what the hell it is. Either Graham is an idiot or he's being disingenuous. Either of which of course clearly qualifies him for the Senate.
Exactly. The presence of AI means that enshittification is a necessary component

Last weekend, @annabower.bsky.social started to receive Signal messages from the U.S. attorney who is leading the prosecution of Letitia James.

Throughout the exchange, Lindsay Halligan complained about Bower’s tweets and reporting on the indictment–but never once asked to be off the record.
“Anna, Lindsey Halligan Here.”

Please don't.
Meiselas: What do you say to people who say while Governor Mills has been a great governor, she’s 77 years old, and we need younger leadership?

Mills: It’s a fair point… But I don’t think I could live with myself if I didn’t do everything I can to reverse what’s going on in Washington
That's what we had to do because she caught it and broke the claw a few times. I don't know why I never thought about it but the vet was like, "yeah we are basically taking a toe"
Our Boston terrier had to have that done. I was shocked at how involved it was.
And vice versa, and that's great. I mean if you put Annihilation in front of an early 1900s reader I'm sure they would be confused and disgusted.
Let's not give judges too much credit. They could confront SCOTUS directly with their names attached. They could try to get answers and change via the judicial conference. They can do more.
Seriously, Judges *do no do things like this*

They don't give their opinion to the media

They don't criticize how SCOTUS works

This is them breaking the emergency glass, folks

Do this @govpritzker.illinois.gov @tinakotek.bsky.social. Activate your national guard to protect legal protest
Oregon National Guard Adjutant General, General Gronewold says if they are federalized, that he will advise the Title 10 commander to utilize National Guard Troops to PROTECT protesters at ICE facilities. This is the right answer.

Today, of all days, PLEASE take a few minutes to read the dozens of reasons martial law will NEVER work in the U.S.

Explained in detail by a former DOD employee who worked extensively on the military occupation in Afghanistan.

Trump & Hegseth do NOT know that aspiration ≠ practical reality.
People think Trump wants martial law? Ok, "Challenge Accepted."
As always, my admonition is this - "Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens."

I know I've said this before, but Matt Yglesias is one of the worst things that the field of philosophy has ever produced.

Folks have asked why I lay this at the feet of philosophy, rather than at the feet of the cultural context in which Yglesias operates. Answering requires using philosophy.
The constituency he's built will never hold an ounce of power in this country ever again, and he'll be remembered like Thomas Midgley Jr.
Wow.
Young’s opinion, which rules that the Trump admin illegally targeted pro-Palestinian students for deportation, is absolutely scathing.

“In all our history we have never tolerated an armed masked secret police…ICE brings indelible obloquy to this administration and everyone who works in it.”

Ezra imhas been so high on his own farts these last few years.
“Kirk & I were on different sides of most political arguments. We were on the same side of the continued possibility of American politics.”

So it’s personal? B/c if you were a Black woman or transgender, Kirk would not imagine you having any role in the future of American politics.
Christ these people are morons

If you've ever lived in the country, you know that you survive by knowing Guys.

You've got your Car Guy, who will fix your car for beer. Your Wood Guy, who will trade you wood for babysitting. Your Furnace Guy, Deer Guy, Plumbing Guy, etc.
I've always wondered if the only reason judges are scared of being overturned, especially fed judges, is ego? Like they won't put their principles and argument together because their ego might get hurt if overturned? Just seems cowardly and as a researcher I expect my ideas to get smacked around.
