At risk of flogging a dead horse: this whole letter is a reminder that the creative process is an end in and of itself, and vital to self-actualisation. You can’t experience BECOMING, as he puts it, by outsourcing it to ChatGPT.
In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

His reply was a doozy.

🚨 The shutdown isn’t over. The Senate vote was a procedural step, not a deal. Nothing is reopening. Nothing is fixed. Eight Democrats helped move an old GOP bill while families go unpaid and SNAP stays frozen.

Flood the lines. Call your Senators.

The fact a *single* Amazon full-time employee requires SNAP benefits should be a crime. The fact Amazon is the largest employer of SNAP recipients is a disgrace. Jeff Bezos shouldnt be that rich; he should be in jail.

In this week’s Frankly, Nate outlines four bifurcations that are likely to underpin the human experience in the near future. These divergences, and the ways we cope with them, contribute to increasing incoherence as a species.

I'm pro-union because I think workers should organize to balance the power that business owners have in various negotiations. It's true that unions have been weakened, but it's not because of multiculturalism. I would argue, it's because people seek to exploit divisions for their material interests.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

How symbolic. A microcosm of the broader collapse we face.
Both man-made and now on an accelerated timeline.
The White House is asking people not to share pictures of the East Wing because it’s even worse today.

Now seems like a good time for millions more to break up with ALL corporate media outlets that throw democracy out the window for $$$ profit.
My breakup with mainstream media came the day after the election 2016.

CNN's CEO had said earlier that year, "Trump is bad for democracy, but good for business."

It was the quiet part said out loud.

I never went back to watching CNN again.

Liberal media is a myth. There is ONLY corporate media.

AI data centers are using a limited resource (water) because they can. Because it's easy. Because nobody is stopping them.

They COULD be using renewable sources for energy and cooling.

And if our government made that demand on them, they would have to.

Data centers don't have to use water for cooling. They want us to think it's their only option because it's convenient & easy.

Other cooling options:

1. Submerged in the ocean
2. Wind energy
3. Nuclear power
4. Underground (like metro)
5. In cold climates, they can use winter air as a fan

Mountainhead, IRL.
New: TIME reporters were able to use Google’s AI video tool to make convincing videos of Muslims setting fire to a Hindu temple; Chinese researchers handling a bat in a wet lab; and elections worker shredding ballots.

After TIME contacted Google, it began adding a visible watermark to Veo 3 clips

We're on a runaway train (rocket) now.

Only a global collapse and cessation of fossil fuel energy can stop where we're heading.

Or maybe multiple massive volcanic explosions that shroud the earth for a few years?
This will change our planet forever.

On this Earth Day, look at how humanity has increased global greenhouse gas concentrations (here in CO₂-equivalents), compared to the natural changes over the preceding 130,000 years:
