This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

As one of the leading Julian Barnes fans of my generation it brings me great bemusement to show you what they’re doing to the cover of his LAST EVER novel. The left is the perfectly nice first one they announced; the right is, inexplicably, what they’re actually going with

by far the most offensive and unforgivable part of ”wicked: for good” is that they put toto on a fucking leash
November 24, 2025 at 1:39 PM
one really funny element of "wicked: for good" is that because of how it's lit, the first thing elphaba has to do in every scene is take off her hat and she's also got a broom and a bag and so she has to put those down too. a lot of pedestrian business for a witch!

i thought wicked: for good basically had a guaranteed best original song oscar win but then i heard the songs lol. in the movie it really is like “what the fuck is happening, why did the music get soooo much worse” and then you’re like oh it’s a new one.

this is not "hyperrational" if what you're trying to do is win baseball games
Mike Elias might be the most hyperrational executive in MLB history when it comes to pitching—for better and for worse. He’s been in charge of the Orioles for seven full years now and he’s never: 1) signed a pitcher to a guaranteed multi-year contract; or 2) drafted a pitcher with a top-50 pick.

what are these people talking about? every 15 years it's just a different guy. just write a movie about a spy named james bond.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."
