Luhrmann's Elvis is *staggeringly* brilliant. I remember doing a Twitter thread about six months before it came out, talking specifically about one Elvis performance, largely unknown, which if people saw it would change their opinion of Elvis totally. Luhrmann used that performance as the end.
Baz Luhrmann's Elvis biopic is unleashed in all its glory later on BBC One at 7:45pm. With all due respect to John Carpenter, this is how the story should've always been told. It's a kinetic, operatic tragedy writ large, a grand, moving fable with a real feel for the music. It actually rocks.

100% agree with you there, but my point is that saying he ‘stole’ black music is ridiculous. Elvis never ever took credit away from black artists, there’s so many clips of him saying he isnt the king, and that he’s not as good as them. And they all respected and loved him. He didn’t rip off anyone
