It sucks because even with being out of the field (full time) for a long time, I could do the work in my sleep. But one brand has gone toxic, and the other I just feel like I couldn't fake that I like it.

And I'd get screened out at the application process anyway. Which makes it worse.

So there are a pair of jobs in my field that keep showing up; one is a formerly well known sit-down burger chain local to here, who now touts the use of beef tallow and had a run of social media posts using nazi-adjacent iconography, and the other is a coffee chain I just can't get on board with.

A great example of what payroll disparity means. At some point, the $160 / $180 / $365 / $700 million player is gonna do the thing.

I mean, the thing about superheroes is that they always seem to leave a ton of wreckage in their wake from "fighting bad guys."

Most of the people here have already accepted the modern position on Columbus. We don't need to waste time or energy on it.

Can't just comment on this one, but this is the lesson learned from the other app. They want to circle-jerk each other into relevance, into status. Just fucking block them and move on. It's why they keep bitching about Bsky. We aren't pandering and boosting their clout/reach, and they hate it.

I don’t think it’s good that we have an entire class of media elites who believe that people getting mad at them means they’re doing a good job, but identifying that makes me wonder if it’s actually better to not get mad at them and deprive them of what they want.
