AI is destroying so much, environmentally, economically, and intellectually. I may as well lean into the things I'm good at that can't be automated: Writing (that isn't soulless slop) and making physical works of art. Better than doomscrolling and hopelessness, I suppose.

My new artwork combines archival photography and abstract painting to reflect how conflict reshapes terrain and erases identity.

Another new one. I suppose it must be obvious how much I love Anselm Kiefer's paintings.

I started with no plan—just textures and gradients.
What emerged was a meditation on war’s hidden aftermath: smoke, ash, radiation, and the scars that linger long after the guns fall silent.

When a nation prioritizes "national security" (security for WHO?) above all else, anything becomes permissible. We saw this in the years following 9/11 and we're seeing it now.

This isn't security. This is state sponsored terror fueled by racism, xenophobia, and white nationalism.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

I'm watching a mini-series about Mussolini's rise to power from 1919-1925, and it's wild. There's a scene with the Blackshirts moshing, then M stagediving and crowdsurfing.

What happens when government recruitment borrows the brushstrokes of nostalgia to paint exclusion as a form of patriotism? The US government’s latest ads promote a wholesome veneer, but within these sentimental scenes lie a dangerous myth about who belongs.

In case the world feels like too much and you're questioning if anything matters anymore:

"It wasn't meaningless as long as you, yourself, believe it wasn't meaningless. After all, that's why I've continued to exist."

(I post far too many #Xenosaga references.)

If you need something humiliating to yell at ICE:

"Is that costume your gender affirming care or does Daddy just like it when you dress up for him?"

You're welcome.

Systems often treat people as problems to be fixed rather than as individuals to be understood. If fiction can spark empathy, maybe it can help bridge the divide between civilians and #veterans.

I'm not sure if I should be embarrassed or inspired (maybe both?) that I've gotten this far in my life and am only now learning about Nietzsche's philosophy from ResonantArc's analysis of a 20+ year old JRPG. #xenosaga
