I wrote about CNN partnering with a gambling app that lets you wager on famine in Gaza, what this shift portends in our media, the obvious moral hazards of this arrangement, and “news” as politically impotent, disempowering spectator sport

This has been a great series. I would love for Noah to do more. Maybe Tom Waits Austin City Limits and Neil Young Live at Massey Hall.
The last of my Mercury Studios videos is up now. If you only watch one, make it this one. I'm very proud of my work here.

Making capitalists “pay their fair share into society” means all of it. They do not produce. They own. Their fair share is nothing. Labor is entitled to all it creates. It’s important we understand this.

I'm tempted to enter this with a remake of Be Kind Rewind. Get real meta with it.
AADL is holding its first-ever Slapdash Remake Film Festival! What's a slapdash remake film? A homemade rendition of a popular movie or TV show that's shot with your friends, a shoestring budget, & simple effects.

🎬 Visit aadl.org/remake for guidelines and submit your entry by 11:59 PM on March 8!

Inspired by @ourflagmeansbeth.bsky.social, I'm gonna write (or really finish) at least another script this year. Will it ever get made, probably not. But I had fun writing my other scripts so why not.

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

For all the mfers who say workers just serve coffee, just deliver packages, just stock shelves, just clean rooms, just prep food, or just check in guests, remember this, they keep our communities running every day. And when they’re on a picket line, you respect it.

What I don't get about this is, I can write bad all on my own, in my own special bad way. This seems like so much effort for small change. If you're gonna be a criminal, do better, aim higher.
so i've gotten a lot of submissions for IHTOV that were kind of weird. long prose, short on details about albums, but long on flowery words and the physicality of vinyl. all from other countries, with the same paypal address. i ran them through an AI detector, but they were ok, just bad

The right is full of grown-ass adults who are afraid of vaccines, kid's books, and anyone Twitter or OAN tells them to fear, including the entirety of NYC, and NYC is full of people who cheerfully chase federal agents out of the state and then do stunts on Citibikes; you tell ME who's going to win.
