Canadian friend of many Ukrainians. I am The Bookstore On Pluto on IG and www.thebookstoreonpluto.com. I'm just here for news on Ukraine (and other relevant world issues). I say stuff, often it makes sense but there's no guarantee for that. 😉

Blocking accounts you know to be consistently wrong, needlessly inflammatory and/or deliberately rage-bating is neither "hiding from the truth" nor "censorship", it is clearing the field so you can have properly constructive conversations with people whose opinions may differ from yours.
The only reason the Trump administration has released ANY Epstein files is because they know that the blowback will mean nothing and they can control the outcome and no one will ever face consequences.

Everyone knows that if a family member (even an extended family member) marries someone who sells insurance we need to prepare for the inevitability of when they ask us to consider their insurance offerings. Now do the same prep for any country that is even remotely close to Russia re: death.

There is no way anyone with intelligence, empathy, kindness, humanity and/or common sense can look at what is happening to the US and say - "It might be bad but it is necessary for the US, the wealthiest country in the world, to function properly into the future and become even better."

Google in 1 anecdote aka "How To Enshittify Yourself Into Oblivion" -
1) Open up Google Maps
2) Google Maps asks if I would answer questions about Streetview
3) I click "No"
4) While using maps, Google asks me questions about Streetview
5) Shut Google Maps
6) Look for alternatives (Organic Maps?)

If you think things re: Trump are crazy now, just wait until the World Cup is finished and Trump has only a couple of months before mid-terms to take full control of everything. No shit has hit any fan yet.

Trump's recent bizarre fixation on taking Greenland is the result of
a) dementia taking hold in an extreme narcissist
b) Putin realizing Greenland is THE issue to destroy NATO and all trans-atlantic alliances so he's pulling his kompromat Ace and threatening Trump massively
c) both simultaneously

Three and a half years ago I said to my Ukrainian friends I didn't see how allies like NATO/EU could possibly allow Russia to drag out the war until the next US election, how Trump could be elected again, and how Russia could win based on the timidity + stupidity of so many people. Here we are.

Switch Iran for Greenland and we seem to be living through the first 25 minutes of Threads.

I sell Sci Fi books for a living. I've read Orwell and Huxley. I'm from Canada where we love Margaret Atwood for The Handmaid's Tale and I love the series Black Mirror. We are currently living through everything I worried would come true. All at once, in real time and much earlier than I expected.

Too many Americans are planning to deal with GOP lawlessness by waiting to utilize the rules-based system, and if THAT doesn't work, maybe they'll spring into action and "deal with it." News Flash - those waiting until Nov to do something won't do anything then either.

CP24 Toronto (part of CTV News) once again posting TASS headlines uncritically without any backing proof or discussion. @popovaprof.bsky.social it seems they are back at it. 🙄😕

Thanks to @andriikatriuk.bsky.social for the calendar! I keep an old fashioned calendar in my house and it is always something special to me, not just a calendar from the shop down the street. The 2025 calendar came from the family of my friend Nadiya in Zaporizhzhia. 2026 features the Carpathians!

Looking forward to a time in the future when Zelensky is no longer Ukr president and Trump, either dead or not the president, is not in charge of anything, and Zelensky feels it is safe enough to say "My God, Trump is the biggest f$%king idiot I've ever met."

Just like the real "Deep State" managed to convince a lot of gullible people that other people were the "Deep State" they are now trying to convince everyone that other people are the "Censorship-Industrial Complex" when that label perfectly describes them.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is the normal and expected reaction to the behavior Trump exhibits. Do not let people act like you are the person who has the problem. Place the onus on them to prove that Trump's behavior is normal.

1/ Russia has stolen billions upon billions of dollars of Ukrainian land, businesses, produce and resources, as well as killing hundreds of thousands of people and destroying untold billions of dollars of infrastructure in Ukraine. Russia flouts all international norms, rules and agreements.

The Ukrainian government system has a problem with corruption.
In the American government corruption is the system.

I would never say the EU is perfect, but if you ask me do I want governments controlling tech oligarchs or tech oligarchs having free reign to control the people, the debate isn't even close. Tech oligarchs need to be controlled and if they don't like it their products should be blocked. 1/2

One of the great joys of @bsky.app is the ability to scroll, leave the app to attend to other matters, and come back to the same spot you left your feed at. Don't ever force-refresh Bluesky, just don't. 😁

Reminder - the closer Russia gets to collapse, the more they will lash out. Militarily, we're already seeing that. "Hybrid" attacks, we're already seeing that. Propaganda/psy-ops/troll farm posts, yup. Financially, Putin just lashed out threatening destabilization. 😂 Turn the screws tighter!

Reminder - Russia does not join any organization, business partnership, sporting event, cultural performance, scientific study, military practice, financial system or diplomatic agreement for jointly beneficial reasons. Everything it does it does to put others down because it cannot build itself up.

In March 2022 I purchased the rights to download artwork by 4 Ukrainian children through an initiative called Leleka. I still have them beside my office desk + look at them daily. Today, World Children's Day, I thought it was a good time to share them. I often think of where these children are now.
