A well-lit, 2-carriage train midway over the Calstock Viaduct that links Cornwall to Devon(rest of England!), spanning the River Tamar. It’s 7:15pm so the light is fading fast now so it’s getting kind of dark. You can still see the reflections of the viaduct and the train in the river below.

A handful of small boats in the foreground and resting, moored up on the banks of the River Tamar as the tide is heading out. In the background the Calstock Viaduct which spans the River Tamar - linking Cornwall to Devon - has the remains of the day’s gentle sunset behind it. It’s 7:15pm so the light is fading fast, now.

Sure is. Noticing the Valencian spelling.... I find the languages of the regions fascinating. And I love that people keep them going.

Wow. We only get a few days a year. So luckily we can cycle 12 months a year. But the damp greyness lasts.....

You have to be brave or brilliant to tackle this subject. Clearly O'Farrell is both in this wonderfully woven tale exploring love, life and loss.
The dreamlike delicacy of the prose brought an enchanted beauty to counterpose the book's most harrowing moments.
