Honestly, that’s been the defining feature of my life lately, just checking out the movie or TV show for myself is far more useful than relying on “the discourse” in terms of finding what I like.
If it weren’t for my exhaustion I would’ve finished The Phoenecian Scheme this evening, and I’d probably rank it as one of my favourite Wes Anderson movies—which surprises me considering how much the marketing and word-of-mouth put me off it.

That #SplinterCell animated series was good, actually! Happily surprised
Throwing this into the ether but what do I need to know about #plex if I’m the kind of person who dives into the deep end IMMEDIATELY instead of wading gently into a hobby or interest?

Take a few minutes to appreciate Drew Struzan creating the original artwork for THE PHANTOM MENACE. Truly a master at work.

Michael Clayton is low-key one of the best movies of the last twenty years
Director/screenwriter Tony Gilroy goes deep into his directorial debut, Michael Clayton, which was released on this day in 2007 🎥

I feel like the #Peacemaker season finale was conceptually great but didn't stick the landing—definitely an odd way to cap off what was otherwise a pretty strong season, and felt like a "oh right there's a whole franchise waiting in the wings" closer, but overall, some great TV!

I don’t play MTG in any capacity but that Spidey bagel card… I weirdly want that one card.

But as an outsider to the hobby it is a bit surreal seeing the sheer pace of these collaborations, especially given how they get covered by major gaming/hobby outlets. “Didn’t we just do this?”

I think #AlienEarth was good, but it spent most of its eight episodes setting up questions it simply doesn't have the runtime to answer. Not necessarily a bad thing, but ultimately leaves me feeling a bit frustrated that we have to wait for more.
Okay maybe I've been too harsh about #Highest2Lowest thus far, it absolutely becomes a different beast entirely at the halfway mark and I'm hooked.
It's absolutely wild how these platforms insist on certain standards and yet advertising apparently has no oversight whatsoever!
I’ve been playing along and listening to the last episode said to myself Nar Shaddaa can’t be that big… but Nar Shaddaa big!
When Wright and Washington can dig into a scene, it's really good! But my god, that score, it's so on-the-nose so far.
Kurosawa's High and Low is one of my favourite films, and I've been curious about what Spike Lee would do with #Highest2Lowest. Gotta admit, I'm struggling a bit here - I feel like this first act has no idea what it's trying to be, and the score feels wildly out place. But! Giving it a fair shake.
I hid it so well, with my repeated mentions of how good #Andor is and how everyone should watch it, and that time when I said, "What if we just became a dedicated Star Wars podcast?"
In which I repeatedly make the case this show should really be a dedicated #Andor rewatch podcast.
🚨 New Ep Alert: 🎥 Rogue One (2016): Podcasts Are Built on Hope

In this episode, we ask how much collaboration is too much collaboration as they return to the Star Wars IP with a film that explores theme through character, but might go just a little too far with fan service.

Super annoyed at every #nswx forecast right now. Rain? Never heard of it!
Instantly elevates anything he’s in. More people should check out the LCD Soundsystem music video he did with Sissy Spacek and Rian Johnson, it’s basically a five minute film that will leave you in tears and it’s because of the performances.
The Hays Code was pretty fucked up! We barely scratched the surface of how messed up that entire deal was in this episode—check it out! #newpodcast
This week, we talk Hayes Code, pre-trope tropes, and ladies with gumption in "The Thin Man" (1934).
