Ooh excellent! From my own experience, the meds effects are just like that. One of the most "oh hey a switch got flipped" meds experiences I've had. Not really like that bc it's still a human thing but, you know. Which is to say, probably not psychosomatic, and I hope you'll enjoy running the world!

Warm, potentially fireproof 😂

Have reached the point of suggesting we distract customers with flashy nonsense UX deliveries and use those projects as Trojan Horses to get data analysis and platform transformation budgets approved. That's what double agents in the cold war did, isn't it?

Hahaha 😂 they'd be perfect but they're essentially crocheted beach wear, meaning they have big holes, a bit like fishnet. I guess I could wear leggings under them? I think I maybe even have a black pair of leggings 🤔 I will investigate!
teyla.bsky.social
They did not! I figured they would bc polyester dye, but they must have some sort of film/cover layer that rejects the dye. I was pleased bc while I didn't like the creamy color of the fabric, I quite enjoy the sequins. And they look even more sparkly now 😂

Realized that my brother would probably genuinely appreciate a paperback paradise cover print for Christmas; now I gotta decide between "Who's Got the Longest Sword?", "Sword That Rips All of a Man's Clothes Off" and "Man Hell" 🤔🤔
teyla.bsky.social
Used polyester dye to dye a pair of unpleasantly cream-colored, sequin-covered trousers black. To my huge surprise it worked! Even the sequins didn't melt, even though you have to boil the fabric at almost 100 deg C. Sequins are hardier than they look!

Tbf this isn't limited to my profession 😅

"Can't AI do that?"

In honour of spooky month, share a 4 word horror story that only someone in your profession would understand.

I got flu & covid vaxxed just before 2 weeks of going into the office lots while Wiesn was on/ right after, and didn't get sick (knock on wood). Yay for vaccines!

(On Thur one of the city papers ran a front page story abt how the entire city is off sick. Wiesn is the mother of all superspreaders.)
teyla.bsky.social
Commiserations! My normal train route is under construction so I will also be in the office much earlier than I like to be 🤝😔

I don't have a good work system. It's different lists that I cycle through. I'm in a job where I can usually either do whatever people are yelling loudest abt, or am rigorously project-managing a delivery where tracking todos is lit my entire job, so it kinda works. But could be better.

I use the Tasks app, which I quite like, with a persistent list of notifications on my lock screen reminding me of my tasks whenever I look at the phone 😅 This, and negotiating with spouses to have tasks that are all mine: I don't do well sharing tasks, and we've found out none of us really does.
teyla.bsky.social
From that list I've seen E.T. and Ghostbusters 😅 not seen Princess Bride, either. And Neverending Story was even produced right around the corner! My school used to do class trips to look at the set, though I never went.

Anyway 🤝 on the lacunae; let's catch up during retirement
teyla.bsky.social
Watched it very recently for the first time. It's... fine? It's not got much of a plot. I wanna say it's mostly aviators and planes, but tbh there could've been more planes 😅
teyla.bsky.social
I could add so many things to this list; my mother was not into letting her kids consume visual media. I've done my best to catch up (sorry mom), but there's only so much you can do about a VHS-player-less childhood 😅

Anyway, what even *is* Seinfeld? I got a BA in TV, I should know this, and yet
teyla.bsky.social
Gosh, that must've been confusing. I was confused by it and I *had* seen the first one 😂
teyla.bsky.social
Have never actually seen Jurassic Park. Caught bits of it on TV but never the whole way through.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.
teyla.bsky.social
I've already had two (2) festivids ideas! Let's hope one of them fits my assignment 🤞 let's further hope it's not the one that's to a song I really don't want to have to listen to a million times 😅

Last one is most important imho, even through the limiting budgeting resources lense. Fundamental science & art inform and advance each other; art allows non-scientifically trained ppl to engage with complex thought experiments; engaged ppl do more with less. Everyone benefits, even the budget.

Oh whoa. Still have to read the article but if this is legit, it's pretty amazing

Nothing to do with the article, it's just been One Of Those Weeks at work 😅 TY for the link!

When will ppl stop claiming AI will make it possible to stop paying attention. The opposite is true! Has always been true when labour was handed off to machines. It may take fewer people to do the thing with a machine vs manually, but man those ppl had better be paying attention. Machines are dumb!

Of our three cats, two were renamed: Dawson > Rassilon, and I don't remember the OG name of Louis but I know it wasn't Louis.

Third cat, Rumble, was Rumble at the shelter. He purred when we picked him up, in a low rumbling way, so the name stuck.
