If (once again) people of colour being first on the chopping block on UK Traitors isn’t the perfect illustration of baked-in societal racism then I don’t know what is. Literally every time.

Happy New Year all!
I’ll be otherwise occupied for the next while hanging out with my new bestie. See you on the other side.

I got this email:

"Rich,

Your creation of Clojure <sycophantic blather worthy of a third grader's homework assignment to write a letter to a public figure you don't know, using sources you don't understand, to express an emotion unfelt, with no intention whatsoever>

@freeagentapp.bsky.social is your onboarding flow broken? I can't see any way to "complete" the last two items. No matter how many times I follow those two top links, the actions remain and the flying start banner persists.

As much as Act 3 is occasionally kicking my ass, Hollow Knight Silksong is easily the most fun I’ve had playing a video game in a long time. So much character, inventiveness and attention to detail wrapped up in wonderfully balanced gameplay mechanics.

Clearing out the office and found this vintage number from 2005. Ruby 1.8; Rails pre-1.0?

show this to anyone else you know who also assumed DHH was just a normal conservative dude rather than a raging white supremacist lunatic
DHH Is Way Worse Than I Thought | jakelazaroff.com
DHH's politics are not normal. Maybe they used to be, I don't know, but as of right now the dude is_way outside of what most people would consider moral or acceptable.

I have a growing number of unpurchasabels on my shopping list because Siri doesn’t understand me saying “puy lentils”. Alongside “toilet sauce” we now also have “foil lettuce”.

@rhiannon.io 's entire thread here, honestly. Ruby Central lost the plot here and has made a lot of bad calls, but hopefully this can serve as a catalyst to restoring it to what it should be.

Brandon is right. Ruby Central needs broader funding to avoid even more consolidation of power in the Ruby ecosystem. I for one am committing to do my part.
RE: Ruby Central funding, and a consolidation of power with companies like Shopify.

For years now the lead funder of Ruby and Rails initiatives has been Shopify, full stop. They've contributed heavily in both time and money, and through that have left a substantial impact on Ruby and Rails.
