‘Vibe coding’ as a phrase is embarrassing to me. In an industry where the bar was already very low, it suggests we can care even less. It’s another step towards enshittification.

The only way to make great software is to truly reason about the code and systems. There are no shortcuts.

Sure, AI may be an environmental disaster and produce mid outcomes in cases where it doesn't straight up lie, but at least it's extremely unprofitable.

The main use case for AI is doing something poorly, very quickly.

Once you realize this, it becomes clear the majority of AI's biggest proponents are people:

a) who don't know what a good job looks like;
b) who don't care; and/or
c) who have themselves only ever been doing a bad job all along.

Woke up thinking about Zelensky being asked, “Why don’t you wear a suit?” and how America is obsessed with making sure you are polite even if you’re dying.

And when you grovel for a dollar for food or protection from war — it’s how you ask or what you are wearing that determines if you get it.

This is awesome. The perfect example of doing what you can and not staying silent when you have the power of your voice, by whatever platform is available to you, in whichever circles you operate.

Anytime I am helping someone with CSS and they seem to have the wrong mindset in how they approach writing it, I tell them to watch this video by @miriam.codes

As far as I'm concerned it should be required viewing for anyone who is learning CSS.

It’s so funny, there’s a long social media tradition going back 25 years of making a big deal about how you were going to quit, and then only being gone for like half a day.

You do not have to consume every single tiny piece of bad news in order to be a good person. It’s ok to miss things. Traumatizing yourself isn’t the same as activism. Bearing witness to the point that you’re paralyzed with fear and horror and fury isn’t going to help us get through this.
Remember their goal is to terrorize us. And social media is a fantastic way to spread terror. We don’t have to help them.
Based on the vibes of my timeline today I’m feeling like the next two weeks are probably gonna be a really good time to reduce social media use as much as possible. Because YIKES.
