I’m Alex. I’m Paizo’s Organized Play Coordinator and a part-time union organizer for CODE-CWA. If you want posts about organizing your workplace or unbearable nerdy gaming & media, I’m your guy.

Also, my husband and I have two really cute cats.

Can't remember if it was this bad before COVID but I'm seeing an alarming spreading of what I'll call Airport Behavior to other public places. Obliviousness to other people's existence, ineptitude at navigating the environment. "Is this your first time at the grocery store" type stuff

It rocks to tell people their shit rocks. Every single person who has ever been nice about my work has been appreciated for doing so. I take time to say I love stuff and it’s always the right time to remind somebody you value their work! You don’t need to get into detail either. Just say it rocks
I’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of thinking that complementing a creative person for their work is less sophisticated or desired than discussion or debate about it but very often the best thing you can say to them is hell yeah and that doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you nice

I do not do Top 10 lists, but I have sat down and made a list of Things I Liked This Year! I will be sharing them daily in a random, unranked order. There is no limit to what I could have liked, these things didn't have to be released this year, WELCOME TO YEAR-END CHAOS

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
I'm so tired of measles.

I'm also tired of people using needle shots on stories like this.

Show what measles looks like.

I named my fists DUNGEONS and DRAGONS because there are many other fists, most of which are more suitable for whatever you want them to do.
I named my fists Master and Commander, because together they’re gonna send you to the far side of the world.
I named my fists Pride and Prejudice, because it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of two fists must be in want of whupping ass

Something I’ve talked about before is that a real class divide in this country is over what percentage of the time you’re on the clock that you’re Actually Working. Many retail jobs are close to 100%, sometimes more with wage theft, while I’ve seen office jobs under 10%
Not to call out my wonderful partner who I love but she works corporate and we did the math and she works under 28 hours a week. She did half a shift at a retail store for the holiday and nearly died

Went 3-1 at #Lorcana league today!

Unfortunately on the way home I started concepting a mono-Emerald deck and now I'm obsessed with the idea.

I'm about to be a terror. Or a failure. Either way!
